This guide was written for the PC version of the game, and perhaps I had missed specific directions in the tutorial, but I found jumping in Far Cry 2 rather a chore. Locating certain Diamond Briefcases requires jumps to be performed.

This makes monitoring your briefcase-collecting progress complicated, as the game menu gives you the total number of diamonds obtained thus far, and it is only at the point of discovery that you are informed that you have found the umpteenth Diamond Briefcase out of the 221 available. In a similar vein, the player obtains diamonds not only by finding Diamond Briefcases but also by completing mercenary-type missions. It is over and above the number of such tapes that the player can find on his/her own. The first Jackal Tape is given to the player by a game character and is assigned the number 0 in the game.
